Drowsy-Driving - It Could happen To You!

Car Smash

Drowsy Driving Kills

The driver of this car was stone-cold sober. But unfortunately, she was also asleep at the wheel. Drowsy-Driving. it's the killer you don't think about.

What YOU Should Already Know !...But Probably  Don't

Drowsy driving crashes account for over 30% of all vehicle crashes. Drowsy driving crashes are identifiable, predictable and preventable. Sleep science, sleep medicine and sleep safety although sophisticated overseas and well publicised are unfortunately at a rudimentary stage and hardly publicised in New Zealand.

"Every New Zealander should take some time to educate themselves about  drowsy-driving since those entrusted to do so are fast asleep. Drowsy driving crashes are common but we don't hear about them as such since they are wrongly put into the 'unexplained' basket. "

Drivers under the age of thirty are four times more likely to have a drowsy driving related crash than drivers aged over thirty. Most drowsy driving crashes occur close to home.
